Questions, answered.
What counts as a record?
One row of the dataset's primary kind: establishment for US food inspections; business_entity for US business entities; food_business_profile for Ohio food business profiles. Child rows that hang off a record, such as an establishment's inspections and violations or an entity's filings, come with it and are not counted separately.
How are subsets priced?
By the records in the partitions you pick. Each dataset is split into partitions, the body that publishes the records: a health district or a state register. Choose the ones you need in the estimator above; the volume tier is set by the total, and the per-record rate falls as the total grows.
What does updates only mean?
After a first full delivery, each release sends only the rows that are new or changed since your last one. You pay the one-time rate on those rows alone, so the price per release depends on how much the source changed. The change feed carries stable sequence numbers so you can apply it in order.
Can I order without talking to anyone?
Yes. Choose Checkout in the estimator, or on a bundle, to pick a format, a destination, and a schedule and place the order yourself. Payments are not live during the pilot; checkout shows the order flow as it will work. Orders, deliveries, webhook calls, and API tokens show on the account page.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, $250 per delivery. A selection that prices below it is charged the minimum; the estimator says when that happens.
What about refunds and guarantees?
A subscription's dataset stays under its freshness target every month, or that month's delivery is free. If a partition you paid for drops out of the latest release, you are told in the delivery and not charged for it. The full list is under guarantees.
Can you collect a record type you do not have yet?
Yes, when the data is publicly available: a site, a platform's public pages, a registry, or a bulk extract. A new jurisdiction or record category is collected within 30 days of a signed order, or the setup fee is refunded. Request a dataset with the records, the places, and the sources if you know them.
Can I redistribute the data?
Within the source's basis, which each dataset page states. Standard orders cover use inside your organisation and in your own product's output. Passing rows on to other companies needs an enterprise agreement, which issues a signed entitlement per downstream customer and gives you usage reporting to bill them from. Fields a source does not allow to be distributed, such as registered agent names, are never delivered.
How fast do you reply?
Within one business hour, from an engineer who works on the collectors, not a sales desk. Write to data@astero.engineering or use the contact form.
